THERE IS NO EULOGY FOR LINDSEY GRAHAM

There will be no fancy speeches from our side to honor Lindsey Graham. Yes , it would be nice to say a nice thing about a politician from either side of the law, once they no longer require a skeptical eye, but that's not gonna happen, not today, not for this guy. Sure it's a decent thing that Sen. Graham did by supporting the arming of Ukraine even though the president of his party feels a closer kinship to Vladimir Putin, the guy who had Ukraine attacked. But that is insufficient for praise. One good thing is not enough to drag the political decency equation to the other side.

Lindsey Graham may or may not be a closeted gay. I do not care where he gets his love or whether he pays for it. His party, the Republican party, makes life miserable for men and women who share an affection for people of the same sex. Lindsey has never gone to their defense. It is even more dire for those whose sexual organs may not conform to the way they feel about themselves. They are literally a handful of people whom the GOP takes delight in oppressing so that they can retain the allegiance of a bunch of religious zealots who do not respect the separation of church and state, let alone the dignity of others to have a different view. So we may refuse to honor his death based simply on that.

Lindsey Graham was at one time a close friend of John McCain, a fellow veteran who was a POW in the Hanoi Hilton in the Vietnam War. But when Donald Trump the Presidential candidate insulted Sen. McCain, there was no defense coming from his good friend Lindsey Graham. Some friendship! There are many examples of Lindsey Graham ignoring the rights of others in order for him to accrue legislative power. But here is the biggest reason why my contempt for Sen.Graham prevents me from honoring his inert form. Twice Sen.Graham joined his party to prevent the impeachment conviction of Donald Trump, a guy he one time warned us about. Innumerable times he has managed to respect a president who has abandoned the Constitutional provisions that limit the powers of an intrusive president. Oh, he would use his best southern drawl to scold the president, but then he goes back to schmooze with the president as if it was a trifle. His party is equally guilty though none of them have given us the opportunity to berate the body lying in state in a state that he has allowed his president to endanger as Sen Graham, though Mitch McConnel is likely to soon be there. At no time did Lindsey Graham, or anyone from his party of supplicants  express remorse for the people whom ICE has killed or maimed in our streets, streets that are in blue areas. At no time has he, or his party gone to the defense of Kilmar Abrajo Garcia, or others, who were denied their Due Process as they were shipped off to prisons of no return. They may not have been constituents of Sen Graham. They may even have been constituents of the legislators from the other party. But they were citizens, or in the process of gaining citizenship, of the United States. Some may only have been undocumented guests, but they were still guests and if their only crime was not being a documented citizen, they still deserve that basic respect of humanity. Not an ICE agent with an itchy trigger finger.

Some people, mostly stinking up his side of the political wall, think that it is proper to respect the president sitting legally behind the Resolute Desk, as long as that chief executive is not a Democrat. If we were to peer closer into these people, these people holding seats of respect which they only respect when their people hold them, nobody thinks less about respecting the office of the president than he who currently sits in that seat. No matter how many people are shot in our streets by ICE agents. No matter if scores of people are denied their Due Process rights in the Constitution because their skin is insufficiently white. No matter if the Secretary, formerly of Defense, bombs a school, killing hundreds of children, It is no matter, even if people within the Immigration branch of government are allowed to invest in private prison stock while building more such private, for-profit prisons. It is a mere trifle to such people, and not sufficient to prompt criticism against the most embarrassing president in our history. Worse even than Andrew Jackson of Trail of Tears fame. I do not mourn for such people. I mourn for the people they allow to be hurt in the name of a Republican Party which long ago sunk into lying and corruption to hang on to power they can only abuse.
