COMMUNITY STANDARDS, FACEBOOK STYLE
I have recently been mentioned in Facebook posts by a meme featuring a picture of the New York times reporter Serge Kovalesky and Donald Trump. The post reads, "You may be in this picture" and has a red square around Kovalesky's head, in order to make sure I get the message.
Kovalesky, you may recall was the physically handicapped reporter (a birth defect) who Trump mocked in the 2016 campaign. As someone who is currently serving a 30 day stretch in Facebook jail for violating "community standards" (my second) this year, I am questioning what community standards Facebook is upholding, more specifically whose community standards? What was my sin? you may ask. I repeatedly responded to aggressive trollers who called me such names as, "libtard" and socialist tool, by calling them stupid assholes after explaining to them what little they know of such things as socialism or liberalism. They continue to troll happily as I am unable to respond to this insulting display of republican cruelty, not to mention sophistry.
To be sure, this is not insulting to me. I admire people who write well for whatever reason. I even used to admire Republican political writers, even as I disagreed with them. The current crop on display at rightwing sites could not carry George F Will's laptop. Since the rise of the Tea-party, Republicans have excelled only in the cruelty and heartlessness they display. The so-called "pro-life" party believe you have the right to struggle out of the womb, but not the right to dignity if you are undeserving of merit from these avatars of meritocracy. The poster's who tried to insult me by comparing me to Mr. Kovelesky probably did not even know his name. They certainly would not know that he was a Pulitzer prize winner. To them he is the 21st Century version of the 1950s Polish joke. The joke is on them. The man they support unequivocally (Trump) does not have the capability to construct even a short statement in an intelligent manner.
Moreover, I have been told by some of these trolls that such honors as the Nobel Prize have no relevancy, not to mention journalistic prizes. I have been told that our nation is a "Republic", not a democracy. Apparently they have never learned we are both. I have been told I don't know shit about economics, yet I doubt they would even know who Frederich Hyack was, or Ludwig Mises, or Milton Friedman. Knowledge is no longer needed to be a spokesman for the Trump party, only the ability to gaslight. These are the new community standards.
I have no remorse! Comity has been trampled by them and I will not be the first to extend a branch of peace. If you insult, I will respond in kind. As long as there is one standard of community for us "libtards", and a more, dare I say, "liberal" standard for trumpies, there is no community standard to defend.
